  • Can I delete the log files?

I have a bunch of `3MB each, log files in D:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\JLRX01.log where JLRX01 is our server name. Why are these files being created?

Can I delete them with out problems?

    Exchange 2003.

Re: Can I delete the log files?

Exchange uses log files to rebuild your email after you restore from a back up. They are stored in MDBDATA.
When you perform a full or incremental backup it resets the archive bit and these log files are deleted.

The log files are named E0000xxx.log.

I am not sure why you have log files directly under the Exchsvr folder but I would suggest that you back up your information store first to see if the logs are deleted.

Re: Can I delete the log files?

You can turn off message tracking under properties of the server in ESM.
It is a tick box in the middle of the first page that you see.

Lets just rememebr if you turn off message tracking you won't be able to see if messages have gone to th intended recipients.

Personally i would leave it on.

Re: Can I delete the log files?

You can also set the system to delete the old log files after a certain number of days. Mine is set to 30 days.
