  • How to Configure MX?

    Hi,
I am Lasantha from East Timor.

    (1) I saw in undp.org has configured MS Exchange 2003 and they are using email as [email protected]. But I know, in other UNDP branch (Ex. Sri Lanka) also using as [email protected].
    1. How can I configure same domain in two servers? (Two Public IP)
    2. How can I configure MX records for that?

    (2) If I have got my own domain Ex. lasantha.net (Public IP 210.1.224.55 in Sri Lanka), if someone need to setup as timor.lasantha.net (Public IP --202.72.104.67) in East Timor, How can I configure DNS (

    Re: How to Configure MX?

To configure your MX records you need to contact your ISP.

    1) You contact your ISP and ask them to add the second MX record to your 2 public IP's.

If you want to use both for load balancing then you need to set them with the same preference

It will look somethng like this

DomianName MX Preference=10 Mail Exchanger = 1st PublicIPAddress
DomianName MX Preference=10 Mail Exchanger = 1st PublicIPAddress

2)Are you setting up exchange?? If you are then you do exactly the same as above.

    timor.lasantha.net MX Preference=10 Mail Exchanger = 210.1.224.55

    Have a read at this
