  • Setting Up exchange

    Hi everyone.

I am relatively new to the world of exchange and im still in the process of studying. I am setting up a small network in a friends small business. I have all software (Server 2003, Exchange 2003) but my question is:

What are the steps/requirements/things that are needed (static IP etc)to be able to send and recieve emails externally (internet)?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but any help is appreciated

    Re: Setting Up exchange

You will need an Internet connection (ISP).
    Preferably a Static IP.
    A registered Domain Name.
MX Record entry for your Static IP in the DNS of your Domain Name registra.
Open Port 25 on your firewall.
A lot of practice BEFORE you go live!

    Ok, what have I forgotten.
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.
    1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
    2 2 1 1 2

You have forgotten to tell him he should be using Small Business Server. It is cheaper, more efficient and designed for both small businesses and people who are new to setting them up
