  • Installation Question

If you install Exchange on a member server does ForestPrep and DomainPrep need to be run from the DC or the member server?

If they are to be run from the DC what is the install steps? (For example:
Do you just put the setup CD in the DC, run ForestPrep and DomainPrep then put
the CD in the member server and run Setup.exe?)

Also, if you were to run ForestPrep and DomainPrep on a DC setup asks for a
destination directory. Exchange, however is not being installed on the DC,
but on a Member server. Do you just accept the default dir for ForestPrep
and DomainPrep to extend the schema if the install needs to start at the DC, or should it be pointing to the server where exchange will be installed or should the install be run only from the member server? Does it matter?

    Many thanks for any assistance.

    Re: Installation Question

You should be able to run it from the member server as long as you have the appropriate permissions (Enterprise Admins and Domian Admins) to update the schema

    Hope this helps.
