  • another OWA is loading question

    Hello,
Yes this has ben asked lots of times, but I cant get it to work yet.

    I have a Frontend/backend exchange server setup.

OMA works fine, /exchange works in firefox, but IE6 and Opera 8 just bring up some broken looking OWA screen and just says loading, then it waits.

I can use OWA with IE6 on the Backend fine.

This is the second Front end I have setup, as the last server killed it's HD. That one i installed and i rememeber it took a while to sort out the permissions, but it worked fine.

Backend is Server 2003 Enterprise, all patched and up to date.

Frontend is 2003 Standard R2, all patched and up to date.

First time i installed Exchange, I just put SP2, but reading DPs comments , I reinstalled Exchange, putting on SP1 and then SP2. But no difference.

    permissions are set :-

    Exadmin- integrated
    Exchanage-basic
    Exweb-anon
    Ms-activesync-basic
    RPC- int/basic
    oma-basic

I have tried it with ssl and used self certification, but no good.
I've put it in the trusted zone on IE6.

It's the same using the DNS name, Netbios name and the IP address.

    tried all theses as well.

Turned webdav on and off, and made every directory anonymous, just to see what would happen. IT usually made it worse.

I have reinstalled from scratch 3 times.

And the building is supposed to be haunted, so that the excuse I have given so far why it doesnt work.

Any fresh ideas would be welcome ( except ones including holy water )

    Thanks

Re: another OWA is loading question

Well, just to let everyone know what the answer was.

Using 2003 R2 on the F/E seems to be the problem.

I did a complete reinstall ( I'm getting good at it now ), exactly the same as I had twice before with 2003 R2, but this time with the bog-standard 2003 Standard Edition.

Installed Exchange, then SP1, then SP2. made it a FE, rebooted. Typed in 127.0.0.1/exchange. A perfect OWA screen apppeared.

Swore at Microsoft, gave thanks to the FSM.
