What are you looking to do? As a general rule, if you're going to scan/install any NON-Exchange-aware AV on an Exchange box, make sure you exclude the following filetypes and directories, otherwise you will be sad.

      .EDB
      .STM
      .LOG
      .CHK
      Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA
      Program Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot

Stinger is NON Exchange aware software.
Could you please post the link where it is proposed that Stinger be used on Exchange.

Stinger does perform a check on files and stuff and not inside any databases eg exchange. Stinger is nice when you have to perform a quick scan (mostly manual) when you've got an outbreak situation, however you can run stinger from ePO or any startup/shutdown login/logoff script.

Buy Mcafee groupshield or any other quality AV like norton, antigen, etcetc.

And why do you want to use a free AV is you can afford buying exchange
In my oppinion ,a good AV solution is the basics of you're network security.

Biggles, although Stinger is non-Exchange it is sometimes useful. For example when no non-Exchange AV was installed on the server, it was infected by a "regular virus", and now you need to clean it.

As I said in my previous reply, you CAN use it just like you use ANY other non-Exchange AV, just make sure you exclude the filetypes and directories I wrote.

                  i can't read that Aki.
Translating using a translation site i've got:
                  http://www.1-800-translate.com/machi...ree_result.asp
Joins the signature of Shai, but take also in the account that the server itself was hurt, not necessarily only the stations ( if
At all ). Run stinger of mcafee as examination in the situation report and show what he is an origin.

I agree, although i personally never wanna do that unless i didn't had any other option (for example: the virusscanner can't start/run anymore...)

LOL, "his juice" is a verbal translation of my nickname, although it has nothing to do with juices... in Hebrew I used (and still do) to write as "Mitsu", and "Mitz" is juice in Hebrew, but as I said, the nick has other origins and has nothing to do with juices...
