  • well that was fun

I just feel like bragging a bit..

I had a catastrophically unbootable server.. so ended up building new ones
the shared folders and stuff all need to go back, but documentation on this is slim.

I could still get to the old file system

Did you know.. you can pull the old files from %system32%\config, mount it in an online registry editor, and retreive the info ?

    I'm quite cheery with myself

    Re: well that was fun

Saw the thread title and was hoping for photos or even better a video. DISAPPOINTED!! but still, interesting and a nice bit of info. I didn't know that but then I have never (touch wood) had such a catastrophic failure and I don't count my Exchange Server having a HDD in a RAID 1 array physically crash and then trash the second drive in the array. Thank you R-Studio for having such a fine recovery program.

Andy, if you have some spare time, this might be something worth documenting (the steps) and posting it here for others. You may even pick up some Rep Points from greatful others who didn't know this trick, err method.
