  • AVG Virus Detection Solution for SppExtComObjHook.dll

For the past few weeks AVG has been detecting this insidious virus on boot. SppExtComObjHook.dll Delete the bloody thing and back it comes next boot up. Spent ages trying to find why, ran full scans with a full paid version of AVG, Malwarebytes, Microsoft's free scan tool, various free online scanners all to no avail. However in my seemingly never ending pursuit of a solution I came across one. You can read about it here.

The gist of it is, you create a text file called SppExtComObjHook.dll and place it in the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Seems it stops the actual virus file from loading since the name is already detected. Bloody clever.
