  • Using the reputation system on the Petri forums

    Please read:

It has come to my and the other moderators attention that there are some users that tend to have a heavy finger on the reputation button, giving false reputation points to people that do not deserve getting these points. It's not that they do not deserve getting rep points at all, it's that they're not supposed to get these points for those specific posts.

This creates a false inflation of rep points, and people end up having more points than they should have had. This, in turn, lowers the value of the reputation system. Seeing someone with 400 rep points will no longer mean that the holder of the points is indeed as knowledgeable as he or she really is.

    We need this to stop.

Only give rep points for people that deserve getting these points, and only for posts that are worth getting them.

I am sure that the users that I am talking about know that I am referring to them, but if they don't, feel free to PM me and I will personally explain.
    Cheers,

Notice that this is not to point a finger to someone but a general notice.

Please do not give reputation (positive or negative) to "thank you" posts. While they may be appreciated, they don't help the community as a whole.

Also, if you wish to give rep to someone, make sure you select their post and not someone else's post in the same thread.
