  • Techs in the USA; Impossible to void a warranty by using third-party peripherals

EDIT: Could someone correct my terrible spelling in the subject? Sorry... =|

I just discovered something called the Magnuson-Moss Act. Apparently this includes the benefit of making it impossible for manufacturer's to claim that a warranty is void if you add memory other than the system manufacturer's. I cast a triumphant glance at Apple's tech support since I've had some of the folks that I work with say that they'll get harassed for having non Apple RAM in a system. Here's a dumbed down summary of what the act does for tech support. Has anyone here heard of this act before? Has anyone ever used this act on a support case?

"Sorry Sir, you void your warranty with third party peripherals."
"Well actually, have you ever heard of the Magnuson-Moss Act?"
    "Uhmmm..."
