I am so glad I live in backwater Australia (most of the time).
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.
    1 1 1 1 race 1 day,

Well' it's the same government that invaded Iraq in order to rid the world of the terrorists that hide there.

                      Yeah right.

All of us are paying the price for this foolishness when we buy gas for our cars. All of us, except for the people that don't because they're dead. And who's getting richer? The oil and arms families of America, and guess who's on that list?

Ahh, enough politics. I will ban myself now.

I guess the topic title says enough.

Doesn't make any sense. And thus it is non-sense. I'm always surprised how easily people are taken in by cyber-myths and urban legends.

No PI license unless you are doing PI kinds of things on that PC. Repair is not an issue.

Where one could get into trouble is recovering data for someone other than the machine owner.

I'm guessing even "backwater" locales would frown on that.

Actually, i don't find it an stupid idea, sure this law is wrong for all the reasons, but some kind of regulation for computer repair shop's would be an great thing, i never would bring an computer to an repair shop and neither would most off te other members of this forum, but 90% off the 'regular' computer owners would bring their computer to an repair shop, an repair shop that could employ an former credit card fraud criminal for example, not an very nice idea now isn't it?

So this law is an bad example, but there should be some control on who would be allowed to service private computers due to privacy reasons, i would not mind that there would be some permit neccesary, got an police record for certain crimes => no permit, we don't want to have an convicted child molester anywhere near to an school, so why should we accept an convicted credit card criminal snooping around private computers?

There's one good thing about gas prices going up, more concentration on alternative fuels, eco-friendly stuff, etc... Then again, I may just be watching too much of the new Planet Green and DIY (Do It Yourself) Networks.
