What is the difference between Window 7 and Vista? which one is better?

Re: difference between window 7 and vista?

IMHO, Win7 is what Vista should have been, but MS had the cheek to release it as a separate OS and charge for it. They more or less admitted this with Server 2008 (vista equivalent) and Server 2008 R2 (Win7 equivalent).

The GUI is similar for both (very different to Win7) but Vista is bloated, resource hungry and prone to crashing, while Win7 is a lot cleaner and more robust. There are a lot of changes deeper down as well -- will tell you more.

Which one is better -- no question about it -- Windows 7

              Ripped right from wiki -

              Physical memory limits

Maximum limits on physical memory (RAM) that Windows 7 can address vary depending on both the Windows version and between 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
The following table specifies the maximum physical memory limits supported:
Physical memory limits for Windows 7 versions

Version Limit in 32-bit Windows Limit in 64-bit Windows

              Windows 7 Ultimate 4 GB | 192 GB
              Windows 7 Enterprise 4 GB | 192 GB
              Windows 7 Professional 4 GB | 192 GB
              Windows 7 Home Premium 4 GB | 16 GB
              Windows 7 Home Basic 4 GB | 8 GB
              Windows 7 Starter 2 GB | N/A

              Multi-core processor and multiprocessor limits

The maximum quantity of cores in 1 physical processor of a PC that Windows 7 supports is: 32 for 32-bit, 256 for 64-bit. The maximum quantity of physical processors of a PC that Windows supports is: 2 for Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate; 1 for Starter, Home Basic, and Home Premium.
192Gig of ram and 256 processors? Me want. *drool*

              Comparisons you ask?!

Yeah, but more worrying is 256 cores on 2 physical processors -- just how long are they expecting the OS to be around?

Re: difference between window 7 and vista?

Windows 7 is to the desktop what Windows XP was.

Windows Vista is to teh Desktop what Windows ME was.
