  • vista locks and loopback

    I have installed vista several times on a new hd and it continues to error and loopback. How do I install XP??? IWhen I try it say's it does not recognize the HD.

    Hi,

    Firstly check in the BIOS to see if there is any HDD diagnostics option and run it to rule out any hardware failures.

      If XP doesn't recognise the HD but Vista does there's a good chance you'll need an AHCI driver. Alternatively most BIOSes give you the option to change the hard drive mode to ATA/Legacy which will make the drive look like an IDE drive to the OS.

        Exactly as "cruachan" said, you need to get into your BIOS and change the HD Mode, I assume you are using SATA Mode which causing this problem.
