  • Vista installation problem

I have the problem where the system just freezes at 70% while installing windows Vista

MSI 975X platinum (NOT the Power up Edition) with the latest BISO installed
    Intel Pentium D 2.4GHz 4MB Cache
    2GB DDR2 RAM BUS 667
    Chaintech nvidia Geforce 7300GT 256MB DDR3
    Western Digital 250GB S-ATA II
    Asus S-ATA II DVD

I don't have any IDE H.D.D or DVD so i don't use the two IDE ports in my board

I would really appreciate it if somebody offered my a step by step solution

Could be many things. How many sticks of memory do you have?

      Try Memtest86+

When you say "freezes", how long are you leaving it before resetting the system?

From memory, there should be a cursor on the screen during that part of the installation. Does the cursor respond to your moving the mouse?

          Try leaving it overnight.

And try Memtest86+, along with any other hardware diagnostics.

            Re: Vista installation problem

I've tried Memtest86 and many other utilities and my RAM is OK and also the Hard drive.
I even took off the CPU, RAM, VGA, H.D.D and replaced them with others from my friend's PC and still not working so I'm sure the problem is about the motherboard and it has something to do with Jmicron controllers
