  • Exchange 2003 Snap-in for Vista

Ok I finally got around to doing the following:

From an Exchange 2003 server, copy the following DLLs from the \program files\exchsrvr\bin folder in to a common folder (preferably in the path) such as \windows\system32 on the machine on which you want to manage Exchange attributes:

    address.dll
    escprint.dll
    exchmem.dll
    glblname.dll
    maildsmx.dll
    pttrace.dll

Once these are copied on to that machine, run REGSVR32.EXE \windows\system32\maildsmx.dll to register that DLL. When you re-open Active Directory Users and Computers, the Exchange extensions will show up!

I've actually registered the dll twice, but I still get the error:
The specified module could not be found.
    Facility:Win32 ID no:c007007e Microsoft Active Directory-Exchange Ext

Now my ADUC is hosed and I'm totally bummed. I do have UAC turned off, I even ran the above from an elevated command prompt while I crossed my fingers and chanted....no bueno. Help......please? (M, notice I posted in the correct forum. Yay me)

Did this thread not help? I've not tried the Vista ESM yet.

I did download that, and it gives a message that I need to first install the Exchange Mapi CDO which I also download but when I try to install it I get the message "Messaging API and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 cannot be installed with Microsoft outlook.

      I'm thoroughly frustrated.

Re: Exchange 2003 Snap-in for Vista

You need some more DLL files for it to work:

        netui0.dll
        netui1.dll
        netui2.dll

They can be copied from any Windows 2003 server on to your workstation.

Really, you should uninstall Outlook, install the CDO 1.2.1 files, then the Exchange ESM for Vista (backup the CDO files - e.g. put them in the Exchsrvr\bin folder), they try to install Outlook again...

That was it! Thank you both, those files were actually in the link provided by Dumber in the previous post but I somehow missed them. Someone else can test the ESM lol, I'm good now. Thanks again.
