  • Vista NT Backup

    Hi Guys,

As per Daniel article about using NT Backup on Vista:

    http://www.petri.com/installing_wind...dows_vista.htm

    I'm getting the following error

    Backup Status
    Operation: Backup
    Active backup destination: File
    Media name: "20080318.bkf created 18/03/2008 at 17:30"

Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:Catastrophic failure

    Aborting Backup.

    ----------------------

The operation did not successfully complete.

    ----------------------
Running Vista Ulimate SP1 fully patched.

    Any ideas?

Anyone able to try this on an SP1 PC to see if they experience the same issues?

    Thanks

    Michael

** Edit- I am running NT Backup as administrator and I have confrmed the Volume Shadow Copy service is indeed running **

    Re: Vista NT Backup

Yes. It seems that you need to disable VSS on the backup job.

Note, playing with this is not supported, you know that, right? You might find out that your backups are non operational when you need them the most.

      Re: Vista NT Backup

Yeah I'm aware. But I only really want to back up my most important stuff i.e music, files, p0rn etc. The rest I can live without / download again such as freeware and ISO's

      Anyways, that worked a treat.

      Cheers D!
