  • Bitlocker Startup Key

Bitlocker can be used without TPM by storing a startup key on a USB thumb drive. Unfortunately, most USB flash drives don't work. They store the startup key but the BIOS does not read the key. I have five USB drives. All store the startup key but only one unlocks the computer.

How can I configure the USB flash drives so that the BIOS reads the startup key?

Note: The problem is clearly with the USB key because one works correctly. BIOS is configured to boot first from USB drive. Folder view shows startup key on all drives.

Are they different file formats (NTFS / FAT32)?

The USB key uses FAT32. I have spent several hours on the telephone with microsoft technical support. They have no solution.
