  • How to enable administrator logon account on vista?

    Hi,

I am facing a problem. Can any one help me? I have windows vista ultimate installed.By default, administrator account is invisible. I want to enable administrator logon account. I have tried to run this command at command prompt

    net user administrator /active:yes

But I got error message "access denied." Even, I am logged in vista as an account with administrator priviliges. How to do this?

    Thanks
    Nadeem

Run cmd.exe with elevated privileges first.

I just tried it - without elevation, it fails:

    Code:
    System error 5 has occurred.

    Access is denied
    With elevated privileges:

    Code:
    The command completed successfully.

      Hi,
Can you please explain a little bit more how to run cmd.exe with elevated priviliges? I simply type cmd in Start-> Run window.

          Hi,
I have run CMD as administrator and then run command net user administrator active:yes and I got message "The command completed successfully." this means administrator account is activated now. I restarted the computer and still could not see administrator logon account on logon window screen. It is still invisible. Caould you please guide me the next step how to make it visible so that I can logon using administrator. Please note, this vista machine is also use as workstation with win 2000 server. I can logon to domain on this vista machine successfully. But Its local administrator account is not visible. Please advise.
