I'm not sure that is something that's supposed to work...

      Hi,

You can try installing the admin tools of Windows 2008 (Admin tools are available with 2008 not with Vista) on your XP box then it should work.

What admin tools? There are NO admin tools for Windows Server 2008 available right now. There is only RSAT, which is still under BETA, and it works only for Vista.

So, if you know something about admin tools, please share it with us.

Actually I had a discussion with our Microsoft TAM and he told me that Admin pak is with LH server not with Vista..........

But I mis-understood that it's yet to come. I clarified it just now.......

          Sorry for my mis-understanding.

As I said, the RSAT is currently available for Connect and beta members, and will be a part of Vista SP1.

Oh well, just thought I ask.

Maybe I should just upgrade to vista as my normal work machine...

Or even better - downgrade the Vista machine to work like the rest of your "normal" machines... LOL

Re: viewing vista event viewer logs via xp

I have a similar problem as we provide a wizard for our clients to report a problem and among other things it also optionally attaches a snapshot of event logs. We have a few developer systems with XP and we can't open .evt files from Vista there. A tool to convert to XP-compatible format would be very helpful.
