are you logged in with an Administrator account?

Have you tried pressing "Shift" while right-clicking? In XP, sometimes the "Run As" option does not appear unless you do - I realise you are using Vista but it's worth a try.

        Re: Run as administrator missing..........

I did a Google search, and found lots of articles regarding adding *additional* run as admin context menu items (such as for those items you normally don't get it for, like scripts, HTAs, etc) but could not find one on having just the basic one in Vista.

Then I did a search for your topic title - and found your other post at NeoWin :P.

Finally, something occurred to me - you have Take ownership that always shows , as well as an additional take ownership that shows when you hold SHIFT. That to me indicates that you have merged a registry file to always show take ownership.

SO, I went searching on how to hide the run as administrator command - and the only really relevant thing I can find is that perhaps you have UAC turned off?

As I mention above, there are ways to add RunAs for items that normally don't get it - see

http://juice.altiris.com/download/13...menu-for-vista (may be outdated, as most MSIs are now automatically asking for permissions)

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tec...t/default.aspx (a great article with scripts to make elevation work with non standard files)

        And for Take Ownership:

            Re: Run as administrator missing..........

Actually, "Run As Administrator" in Vista is not the same as "Run As..." in XP. So most things that work in XP probably won't work in Vista.
Anyway, I don't think you need to mess with the registry to get what you need. A simple search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...un+as%22&meta=) will provide you some 328000 results...
Take a look at these articles I found among those results:
            - http://itsvista.com/2006/12/itsvista...administrator/
            - http://blogs.mit.edu/CS/blogs/doval/.../04/62492.aspx

            Good luck.

Hey while doing some I found somethig intresting......

"Run as" is not available in GUI but can be used as a command........

              http://www.microsoft.com/communities...46562194e6&p=1

Atleast you can give it a try.................

                Re: Run as administrator missing..........

Run as Administrator *is* available in the GUI - I used to use it almost daily, and in the screen shot that OP showed, it is not showing on the CMD shortcut - but in my system it *is* showing.

                Alternates that I have found:

                1) Using that link for the script elevation tools, one of the tools you get is an elevate command - using it, even if you open a CMD that is not elevated, you can type 'elevate cmd' and it will open a new cmd prompt with elevated privileges. This actually works for all executables.

                2) SudoWin - a sudo command for Windows.

                3) Start++ - Brandon Paddock has created this nifty addon for the Vista Start Menu that has an integrated sudo command.
