  • Unable to rename folders

I've seen that this error has been happening all over the place. Various forums have ideas, but none seem to work. Here's the issue:
    • A new folder will be created, defaulting to the name "New Folder"
    • Any attempt to rename it give you the error "This file / folder does not exist"
    • The folder itself cannot be moved from the location it was created.

any ideas? this is my wife's laptop, so I don't mess with it often. it's the only Vista machine in the house

    running Windows Vista Home Premium
    Dell OEM version

    Re: Unable to rename folders

Try to unselect the folder, then refresh the view, then select it again and try to rename.

no dice...according to the technet forums on Microsoft, this is a HUGE issue. It's happening for people all over the place.

hmm...even a clean install doesn't seem to fix the root issue.
