Bit confused about with drive you want to install Vista on. Disk 0 or Disk 1?
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.

How about you rename the Volumes to something other than New Volume. Makes it easier to identify. As for Disk 1, Volume 1, if it is the 68GB partition then it is visible. Is the problem that you can't down arrow and select that option?

So, you want to install Vista on Disk 1, Partition 3 and for some reason you have converted Disk 1 from Basic to Dynamic. Is this correct?

you were right about installing on Disk 1, Partition 3 .
but i didn't convert it to dynamic it was like that when i formated disk one and split it to 3 partiotions.

Is there anything vital on that drive that would prevent you from formatting the drive and setting up a basic drive??

Re: can't see partition while install vista rc1

well i guess i'll have to try and format the drive to basic but exept for I(vista) the other 2 partitions D and H have stuff on them.
when i checked with acronis partition expert i see something strange:
it's sees disk 1 has 1 dynamic hard drive with no prtitions at all so maybe that's the problem.
do u know of a way that i can format partition I to basic without having to reformat all of drive 1?
                    Thanx

You can not format a drive back to Basic. You need to Convert it. If you do convert to Basic, nake sure you have ALL your data backed up as there is a very good chance of it all disappearing into cyberspace.

Actually, there is a complete chance of it disappearing into cyberspace (unless you try 3rd party tools). WIndows will not let you convert a dynamic disk back to basic unless all volumes have been deleted first. Never tried it with Partition Magic or equivalent, but IMHO, prepare for the worst if you do.
