  • Disconnect from non-existant email account

I know how to disconnect a user account from a Microsoft email in order to have just a local account. That all works just dandy- even though I am not a fan of how and why MS created this mess in the first place.

But here is the issue: How do you disconnect from an email account that is no longer in existence?
I have 2 instances right now of senior users- meaning over age 65- that somehow had their Win8 users accounts set up with non- Microsoft email accounts that are no longer in existence. These users have been able to log in with out issue but now they want to get away from the Internet connected account. If I try to disconnect, Win 8 throws an error. Obviously there is no data to disconnect from.

I really don't want to totally rebuild their profile manually like the old days.
    Does anyone have shortcut?
