  • Robocopy and attributes problem

    Hi

Using Robocopy, I should copy the files of a directories structure with all their ACL and their attributes except the attributes of reading in another structure. How should I do this?

    Thanks

so your saying you want to copy a directory and on the new directory, you want it the same as the old, but you want to remove the read privilege and leave the write and execute?

    WHISKEY

    TANGO

    FOXTROT

    ???
its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

        Re: Robocopy and attributes problem

        I think this is a 2-stage process.

You can't copy data, including all permissions, except a particular type of permission. It just doesn't work that way.

        you need something like:
ROBOCOPY with DATSOU to copy all the attributes
        then
ICACLS to remove the relevant permissions you don't want at the destination.

Both of these tools have completely usable and useful /help switches that will teach you the correct switches to acheive your requirement.

balubeto, are you a real person or a bot? This is actually a serious question.
