  • How to restart the Windows Explorer shell in Windows 7/8

Just posted this on the Petri IT Knowledgebase content site, which is the latest post from Daniel Petri:

How to Restart the Windows Explorer Shell in Windows 7 / 8

Anyone else have other methods to suggest that could be used to restart the Windows shell? Should make this a trivia contest.

I never, ever knew those. That's fantastic!

    instantiate a shell:
Start > run > cmd (or Start > "cmd")

then within the shell, kill explorer:
    taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
    then restart it
    explorer.exe

I've always done it from Task Manager and kill explorer.exe

HEY, I was going to say that.
        1 1 was a racehorse.
        2 2 was 1 2.
        1 1 1 1 race 1 day,

the advantage of using the task manager, imho, is you can easily restart explorer in the "File" menu, using, new task (run) and typing explorer.exe.
