  • Grant only to local administrator ability to install outlook

    Hi,

I would like to grant only the local administrator (not the group administrators) the ability to install outlook.
I would like to prevent users that are local administrators to install only MS Outlook on their computers.
    how is it possible?
i thought of maybe make a folder where outlook is being installed and give permissions there, or at the registry navigate to where the container (?) of MS outlook and give the permissions there...

    any ideas / suggestions?

    Hi,
You could lock down the workstations by using group policy, make an OU in AD and put the computer accounts in there, then link a lockdown policy to the newly created OU.

The policy would be something like this.
enable Disable Windows Installer and Prohibit User Installs node found under Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Installer. Make sure that GPO is linking to OU that contain computers.
