  • Can't boot into windows 7

I have a lenovo windows 7 home premium, i can't boot into it, not even into safe mode.

AN UNEXPECTED I/O ERROR HAS OCCURRED

There have been other errors, that it cannot find a file, hardware currupted.

How can i get in to do a fixdisk?

IF i can't, i'm going to change the hard drive and do a clean install.

use a Windows 7 cd, it should have a repair mode on it
that will let you get to a minimal command prompt and run chkdsk etc

        Hi there,

I would first make sure that no external devices are connected to your computer. Unplug all USB-devices and check if this fixes the issue.

If the problem persists, download and install the latest BIOS version and set it back to factory defaults. Furthermore, try to reconfigure the SATA mode to AHCI, which is the common SATA standard. Press F12 to access the BIOS setup go to IDE controller and change the value from “IDE” to “AHCI”.

If these methods don’t work it might be a Windows issue. Insert your Windows CD and boot from it by pressing F8 for the boot menu at the start up. Try to run a repair installation.

I hope these tips could help you.

        Greeting Tobias

          Remove HDD
          Connect to a USB Enclosure.
          Save data from the HDD
          Re-install HDD into Lenovo
Boot and tap F11 during boot to do a Factory Default Recovery (see link below)

While the HDD is removed, I would check it for physical errors. HDTune or similar tool.
