  • Win 7 issue - Virus

    Hi,

I have a win 7 ultimate laptop which iam using. It would open some documents automatically or ask for delete confirmation when we try opening folders. I tried scanning using lot of antivirus softwares and deleted virus. At last, had to format the machine as a whole but still iam having virus in my laptop. Documents or search option is getting open automatically. Keys are getting disabled. Please help. Are there virus which remains even after removing the computer ?

    Regards,
    Anish

Presumably after reinstalling Windows you copied files back onto it, so that is probably where the reinfection comes from.

    What AV are you using?
Have you done any offline scans by booting from a CD with the virus scanner on it - most AV companies do this sort of thing

Yep, many AV companies offer a boot CD, such as AVG: http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-rescue-cd

Just google "virus scan CD" and pick your poison.

If there's a virus that is capable of surviving a hard disk format, I haven't heard of it.

Maybe the keyboard or touchpad of the laptop is damaged?
