  • Add a link on the left panel at the top of the Start menu

    Hi

In Windows 7 SP1 64 bit, how do I add for all users a link on the left panel at the top of the Start menu?

    Thanks

    Bye

There is a very useful, but comparatively unknown, web site called which helps with questions like this. After about 30 seconds searching (using phrases like "custom start menu for all users") it lead to this, which seems to do what you want:
    http://headadmin.net/?p=208
    Many other links are available:
    http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=win...w=1715&bih=850

In practice, I have a link that executes the following command:
      Code:
      "C:\Program Files\uvnc bvba\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -config "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\UltraVNC\Pluto_port_xxxx.vnc" -password "xxxxxxxxxx"
and I should put it in the left panel at the top of the Start menu for all users.

So, how do I do this?

      Thanks

Create and test a shortcut to do what the task you want (you DO know how to create shortcuts, I presume? ) then look at the first link I posted above (again I am ass-u-me-ing that you know how to use hyperlinks, but if a tutorial is required, it can be provided )

Reading through some of your numerous posts here, I would strongly recommend you consider investing in some suitable training in Windows 7.

By so doing, however, my link is displayed in the "All Programs" menu and not directly in the left panel at the top, as I would like.

          Thanks
