  • UPN for logging in......

    Afternoon All!
The organisation that I am currently working for want to change their login ID's for their users to a 6 digit number instead of their current firstname.lastname format. This is all fine on Windows XP, but when eventually they want to upgrade to Windows 7, am I right in thinking that they will have to use the UPN name which will be their email address? The email address format is staying as firstname.lastname, just the login name they want to change............

So if they pursue this idea, they won't be able to use Win 7 machines with their firstname.lastname email addresses, they will have to use a rather unfriendly looking [email protected] to logon to the machine.

    Have I got that right?

    Thanks all - happy humpday!

    Tom

It's not a requirement that you login to Windows 7 using the UPN. You can still logon using the SAM account name: domain\123456
