  • Antivirus Scans System Restore Data Archive?

I slaved a hard drive to another computer because it had a nasty virus. I used Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials to clean the drive. Now after putting back the HDD to it's original computer allot of settings has been changed and broken links.

My question is...I would like to do a system restore, BUT am I bringing the virus back using the System Restore method? Or did my antivirus scanned the System Restore Data archive so I don't have to be worried?

One of the most important things to do during any virus removal process is to clear the Restore points. Using a restore point to 'fix' your machine after virus removal is almost guaranteed to restore the virus, or the effects of the virus once the restore has been completed.

You will be better advised to manually restore your settings and fix the broken links. What sort of problems are you referring to - can you manually fix them?
