  • remove "search programs and files" from start menu

    Hello,
I need to remove Search programs and files box from Start of W7 for locking down purpose.

There is an easy way to do that in Turn Windows Features On or Off.
But the list of Features is empty. I don't want to troubleshoot this. This is a Thin client image. So may be it is cut in embedded image.

How to disable Search programs and files box in Registry?

    Thanks.
    Michael.

I wish it would be in GPO.
      No way by GPO...
I ddi some search and the best available option is through Turn off Windows features. But it is blank in my case (and others). So it is another troubleshooting to get the result. Didn't find any suggestion for registry change.

        Why can't you use GPO???

Local Group Policy would have pretty much the same settings.
