  • Win 7 64-bit Cannot Connect to Shared Printer.

I have a user is on a Windows 7 64-bit computer with a shared printer.

I have 2 out 3 users who can connect to the Windows 7 64-bit shared printer.

The 2 users are running on Windows XP 32-bit with no problems at all.

The third user is running on Windows 7 64-bit and it CANNOT connect to the Windows 7 64-bit shared printer.

Is their some kind of bug connecting to a WIN 7 64-bit computer to WIN 7 64-bit computer with shared printer?

and yes "file and print sharing is enable"

what happens if you try and install the printer drivers directly on the w7x64 workstation, then map it across that way?

Do you get an error number? There's a hotfix to correct this issue if it's the problem I'm thinking of. Post the error message you get and I'll link you if it's the same problem.

Installing the driver did not work.

            Any help?

              D:\err>err 0x00000574
              # for hex 0x574 / decimal 1396 :
              ERROR_WRONG_TARGET_NAME winerror.h
              # Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect.
              # 1 matches found for "0x00000574"

              D:\err>
That's the output I get - could be incorrect user account name, or computer account name

What account are you using to try and map the printer?

Yep... it was the computer name.

I got it resolved by renaming the computer.

                Thanks!

I'm having the same problem on a Win7 32bit computer now. And was wondering in what way you changed the computer name to solve this?
