  • Windows 7 Deployment on Vostro 230 : No network driver

I am having a really hard to get Windows Deployment Services to deploy Windows 7 to Dell Vostro 230 which us Broadcom 5776 gigabit ethernet controllers.

I have added my boot images for WIn7 x64 from the dvd, also made a capture image for it.But everytime I pxe boot, WDS wont see the network drivers. I next tried to inject network drivers to the boot.wim and still no go. I even tried to use shift + f10 and manually inject drivers, and still no go.

Next step I tried to inject network drivers to winpe.wim x64 and added as a boot image, which seems to see the nic, but unable to launch WDSCapture or any other tool from Winpe.

Can anyone advice whats the best thing to do here.

I had similar issues with a Vostro 220, but injecting the driver did resolve that for me.

I think the best thing to try, particularly if you have a lot of these machines, is a discover boot image. They're meant for non-PXE compliant machines normally, but if injecting the driver isn't helping then it should work. Check this link.
