  • Unable to access shared folder on Windows XP

    OK, here is the scenario.

2 computers --> Deep and Neeraj. Deep is running Windows XPP and Neeraj (is a laptop) running Windows 7 Home Premium. Both computers have user "Neeraj" created on them with "Neeraj" being administrator on both computers.

On computer Deep , there are 2 folders Kasturba and Kasturba2 with "everyone" being given full control.

Now, when I access the network in Neeraj computer, I see Deep computer. When I click on "Deep" it asks for user name and password. No matter what I try it does not let me access the folder.

Why does it say "Domain: Neeraj"? On the top it says "Enter network password" and below that "Enter your password to connect toDeep".

What I am doing wrong or what am I not doing?

    Thanks.

    For the username use
    Code:
    computername\username
    and then your password.

So it would appear you need to switch your username to
    Code:
    deep\neeraj
And to get onto the "Neeraj" computer from deep, you would use the username
    Code:
    neeraj\neeraj

Check and make sure the time is correct on both machines...or at least the same.

Where was the EVERYONE permission added? To the SHARE or NTFS tab?
