  • desktop wallpaper gpo not applied to W7 in 2k3 domain

    Hello,
before posting here I made some research on web for my issue.
There are plenty discussions with some fixes dated janury february 2010.
    Cannot find official fix...

    The issue:
W7 computers get black wallpaper instead corporate desktop background when log to 2k3 domain. The picture in GPO is in JPEG and works for years for XP machines.

Is there a fix that will bring required wallpaper?

    Thx.
    Michael.

      I saw all this...
No real solution. They not talking about W7 joined to domain.

May be somebody here on forum did see the issue with GPO defined wallpaper when W7 logs to 2K3 domain?

Have you run an RSoP to see which policies are applied?

1000 + (XP machines) have no problem.
I deployed 25 W7 machines all of them are affected - instead of corporate image there is a black background.

There is a Hotfix Download Available - that could solve the problem.
However I'd wait for Win7 SP1 commes out. And for now use a work around.

            possible workaround
Determine where the problem is then using rsat (and/or logonscripts) to fix it on the windows 7 computers.

On one of the computers check the registry values in the key:
            HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop
Specifically the entry "Wallpaper" should point to a BMP-file in the user's profile path.
Follow this path and open this BMP image and check if it showing the company wallpaper.

              Thanks Rems.
Tricky issue. Five W7 machines behave differently in regards to background
So, used different tricks. For last one MS fix worked just fine.
