  • Logon delay when network Cable Unplugged

The Windows 7 users have found that it takes over 60 seconds longer to logon to their laptops when their laptops are not connected to the network. I'm assuming this is to do with a cached credentials timeout value of sorts, where the system tries for a period of time to connect to a DC?

Is there a way I can reduce this timeout so that when they are out of the office they don't have to wait so long for the laptop to get to the desktop?

    Thanks for your help.

Presumably these machines are domain members, rather than just using the DCs for DNS?

      Correct, they are domain members.

Thanks Wofen for your reply, however in my original post I mentioned that the delay occurs only when the laptop is not connected to the network (aka domain). Logons are very fast if connected to the network. The link you provided appears to be referring to regular logons when connected to the network.

Also, this only appears to be affecting Windows 7 laptops, the Windows XP logons do not experience this delay. As it is a small business the Group Policies I have in place apply equally to all users and computers, and there aren't any GPs associated with timeouts.
