  • Win & Drop Down Menu

When using the "save as" the drop down menu is not populated as it is in older versions of Windows. How do I populate the drop down menu?

    Thanks
    Dennis

Can you please post a screen shot to explain
Do you mean the "show folders" option?

Re: Win & Drop Down Menu

        I have submitted an attachment.

Notice that the drop down menu is not ppulated except with the address path. Therefore, should I want to save to another folder, I do not have that option.

When I try that I see recently used locations in that list. Perhaps you have not used any

You have access to other locations down the left hand side of the dialog box -- scroll down if needed

Yes - this threw me when I first began using Vista. This list does not function the same way it does in XP, 2000, etc. It does not show the folder structure. What you are seeing is the recently used list.

Check out the first entry here for Windows Explorer:

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._Windows_Vista

It describes the differences between Vista/Win7 and earlier versions of windows.

Thanks Blood & Ossian for responding.

Is there anyway around this so that it works like the older versions of Windows????

              Thanks

Re: Win & Drop Down Menu

Why not simply use the navigation pane on the left?

If you have dedicated folders for downloads, documents etc you can add them to the Library. The Library is always available and once added access to frequently used folders is fast and easy.

Re: Win & Drop Down Menu

I guess that I could do that....but its so abnormal.

Its like in Win 7, Microsoft has chopped of your dominant hand and told you to learn to use the other. Simple File Sharing has also been removed ** sigh**

As with the shift from Win95/98 to Win2000 and the change from Win2000 to XP and thence to SP3 - once you get used to it and understand the benefits of the new way of doing things you soon appreciate the new features.
