  • Newbie WIN 7 - Can I move Program Files out of C:\ Drive?

I have recently installed WIN 7 and this time would like to save the C:\ to WIN 7 only and install all other Apps onto another Partition .

Is it possible , for instance to move Program Files Folder to another Partition for this purpose and , if it is , how do I go about it ?

Apparently yes, you can but I wouldn't expect that this is supported by Microsoft. Program Files is much more deeply linked into the Windows install than it was previously, I recently tried to recover some data from a corrupt Windows 7 install by installing on top of the old install and both Program Files and Program Data were copied to Windows.old along with the Windows directory.

I've done this with my personal computer. The reason...

To keep only high priority files on my SSD, which is only 80GB and move low priority files on to my 1TB traditional HDD.

      It works well.
