  • How to manage startup of other users?

    Dear Fellow Members,

I have Win XP Pro Stand alone machine at home. I have the rights of Administrator. My family members do not have Administrative Rights. Since my daughters are minor, they do not have Yahoo! account of their own. However, the Yahoo! Messenger starts automatically when they login to Windows. I could remove it by deleting the entry from HKCU\...\Run. But for this I had to ask them their password and had to login in to their account.

Theoretically, for an administrator, say in an office, it may not be possible to know the password of other users. May I know how should I edit the registry of other users without logging into their account?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dinesh

    Read this:

Edit Registry Settings for Users Other Than Myself:
    http://www.petri.com/edit_registry_s...han_myself.htm

But note that the Yahoo Messenger is under

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions

therefore I do not think it's possible to edit it as a per user option. However I never experimented further.

If you find an answer do let us know.
