  • Oh how I love MAC's

hello people. The boss just got a MAC with OS X(panther) and it seems as if there straight forward to put on a network, however the blasted thing won't bind and comes up with a permission based error message saying I don't have sufficient rights. I am the highest level (administrator).

Do any of you guys have any experience of putting MAC's onto a windows 2000 Domain? The mac is the newest version so no issues like the older ones.

So you're getting an error when binding AppleIP to the NIC?

I believe everything you need to share files with a Windows network are installed by default on the Mac. From the Windows machines you may not be able to see the Mac.

Also, it's not a Windows machine so you can't add it to the domain the way you would normally.

To access fileshares do the following:

    1. From the Finder, select "Connect to server..." from the Go menu.
    2. In the Address field, enter the name of the server like this: smb://servername
    3. Click "Connect".
    4. Enter the appropriate workgroup or domain, username and password and click "OK".
    5. Select the share you want to use and click "OK".
