  • XP Default Resolution

For every user that logs in the first time it uses the default resolution, I think it's 800x640(?).

Is there away to change the default resolution for everyone even if they've never logged in before so when they do log in it's automatically 1280x1024?

    Thanks!

Apparently if you reboot the computer the setting goes away.

        That's annoying.

          This got a bit stranger.

No matter what user. If you I change the resolutionin the users setting. Reboot the computer, it goes back to the default resolution, doesn't even keep what I just changed it to.

          Does this for administrator too.

I don't think it's related to the default user profile. Check the event log for errors. Are you using Roaming Profiles?

Also check for driver updates for the video controller.

No, we don't use roaming profiles.

We did update the drivers because it's a new machine. But I'll check again and maybe that could be the problem.

It's just strange beacuse we have a few of these machines out there and this is the only one that does this.

                Re: XP Default Resolution

Well it ended up being a certain piece of software that requires a certain resolution. Once you reboot the computer it automatically changes the resolution.

                I hate that.

Thanks for the help though, Jeremy. I appreciate it.

                  Thanks for letting us know.
Could you tell us what the software is so others could be forewarned?

                  Thanks.
