  • Encrypt Offline Files

I'm thinking of implementing offline files and use encryption. I'm wondering if 3DES encryption can be applied here and also where is the data recovery certificate saved. cipher.exe /x doesn't seem to do anything in this case. I've read several TechNet articles and it appears only the data on the client is encrypted.

Could someone provide a bit more insight. I don't want to end up in a situation where the data is unreadable by everyone.

As far as i know, XP uses by default a local certificate for encryption.
I do not see any use for an CA only for offline folders, cause this is just a Replica of whats on you're server.

Thank you Dumber, I just wanted to be sure I won't be doing something I'll regret afterwards.
