  • NetBios over TCP IP

    Hi all

Im new here but I had this doubt and this forum seemed like a nice place to expose it.

    Here it goes:

Im trying to enable NetBios over TCP IP in my WinXP system.
I go to connection properties and local area connection properties and there I can and I do enable NetBios in WINS separator.
But the fact is that when i do an ipconfig /all NetBios shows Disabled.
I rebooted the system after doing this, and still no joy.

Does anyone know how to get arround this or get a configuration program, anything.

    Thanks

P.S.- I connect to the Internet through a WAN Miniport... if this might help...

Using ipconfig /all I don't even see netbios mentioned. I copied and pasted this directly from my WinXP Pro machine - then changed some info but everything is there just edited.

I've see it maybe because I dont have a router, I have a Modem ADSL and im required to put in username and pass to acess the net. Maybe thats why when I ipconfig /all the Netbios disabled appears. Or maybe its just because our equipment and configs are diferent, tha fact is that it appears on my machine.

I have and Alcatel Speed TOuch Home and I've checked the article about going from Home to Pro, and it worked for me, so now I have a router and the application that required Netbios is working fine now.

So just to say that no more help is needed about this post... For me at least

      THNX anyway
