  • Network printers for all profiles

    Hello,

Does anyone know a way to install network printers for all profiles in XP pro? Local printers installed show up for all users who log into the workstation regardless of whether they've logged in before. I want to do this with network printers. There are executables available that can be run from a login script to do this but I want to do it on a per machine basis.

If the printer is installed on the PC you can copy the registry key found at:

    HKey_Current_User\Printers\Connections\,,Server,Pr intername
    to
    HKey_Users\.Default\Printers\Connections\,,Server, Printername

after doing this the printer will appear for all users in the printers folder but it will only work if they have sufficient priviledges.

Thanks for the help! I also found a command line solution:

      rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ga /n \\printservername\printershare

      Thanks again.
