  • trouble with assigning h.d letters

    Hi,
I made a ghost copy of my h.d and duplicated it to a new h.d
I wanted to keep the old h.d for back up.
The problem is that when I boot my p.c the new h.d gets the letter D and the old h.d gets the letter C
The new h.d is identified as the primary master on the boot sequence as well as when I enter the system via partition magic and other third side programs.
I tried to disconnect the old h.d so it wont influence the new h.d but then the p.c freezes on the windows welcome screen.
Whats happening?? (celeron 800 256 ram xp pro sp2)
    Thanks,
    Bendi

Have you been in disk manager in XP to see how it assigned the drives or have used disk manager to try and change the drive letters? What program did you use to ghost the drive? What are your jumper settings on your drives set to?

I didnt use the xp disk manager at all but when i opened it the letters are asigned un correctly .
      I used ghost version 8.
The new h.d is jumpered as master and the old one as slave but in the boot process the new one is showen as primary master and the old one as secondery master .
      Thanks,
