  • Windows XP file relocation

    I have two drives in the PC. C drives has some programs and new. d: drive has the windows system folder. C drive is the boot drive. I want to remove the d drive from PC. How can I move the windows folder from d drive to c drive without effecting the performance.?

    You would be better doing a backup and re-installing the OS onto the new C:\

      Can I back up the windows system on CD ? windows do not give me option to back up on cd rom, any suggetions on programs ? also currently when I boot the PC it looks for folders on d drive , will the backup option give me the option to put the system on c drive ?

        Use the inbuilt NTBACKUP feature or use a commercial product like Norton Ghost.

        Re-install the OS to the C:\

        Restore your files from the backup

          Yes, i agree. Unless you can back up the system, a full re-installation is the best option. Have you though of backing up to an external drive maybe?
