  • Logon.scr - Application Error

    Hi All,

We have an issue on select computers within our domain that when the computer I believe is trying to initiate the screen saver.

Instead of the screen saver loading the following message appears. It does not cause any problems and if you click ok you are just prompted to logon.

This happens on a number of computers in the domain of which no pattern we can determine as there are plenty of others that it does not occur on.

All computers in the domain have a group policy applied which locks the computer after a period of inactivity.

I have attached the error message that comes up I would really like to get rid of this problem.

    Thanks

    Kris

    Re: Logon.scr - Application Error

I have confirmed that the logon.scr screen saver exists in c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\system32\dllcache. and that it opens as intended.

    Please help

      Re: Logon.scr - Application Error

Has anything been installed on those computers that may have caused this? I wonder if running the Windows System File checker (SFC /scannow) might help?

        Re: Logon.scr - Application Error

        Thanks for your reply.

All the computers here are running only 2 releases of an in house built SOE and almost have the same software with very very minimal difference between machines.

We cannot identify any patterns between machines.

I can try and run sfc /scannow, will let you know how this goes.

I've seen this problem but can't remember what we did to fix it.

Will rack my brains and see what I can remember.

Are the power saving settings the same on the computers? Try giving them a longer time-out.
