  • User cannot change password on domain workstation

In a scenario that seems strongly reminiscent of the following KB:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837327/

I have a user who is unable to change their password on a domain workstation.
The workstation has left the domain, had a cleanup after it, and rejoined the domain, but the same problem occurs.
The workstation is patched up as recently as it can be
Change Primary DNS Suffix is definitely set.

My next step is going to be removing the DNS Suffix checkbox, rebooting, and re-adding it then trying again.
I also need to determine if this is only happening for the one user.

My question therefore is, what could I look at, or how could I create a relevant SPN?

The server OS is 2008, the desktop is Windows XP SP3

How about adding the computer to the domain with a different computer name.

MCSA+Messaging, CCENT, ICND2 slowly getting around to.

that was also going to be my next trick
and then running NewSid on it after that

      sorted it though.
It was failing to find the domain, even though I knew the ipconfigs were corerct etc
so I looked closer again, and found it had a wins server configured on 192.168.0.1 - wrong network, and shouldn't be fconfigured

removed it - all working now
