  • new machine cannot join domain and change computer name

    hi,

I run sysprep and configured sysprep.inf to auto join domain and set the computer name to random, but i encountered the following errors

    1. during the mini-setup, the process will halt at the networking page for a long period, and an error appear "the domain could not be accessed due to networking problems". I have to change to "workgroup" for the setup to complete. the credentials and domain is correct (tried NetBIOS and FQDN), as I was able to join the domain after the setup completes.

This issue didn't happen in my lab, what can i check?

    2. the new computer hostname remains the same as the reference image, even though i set ComputerName="*". What could be the cause?

    thanks!

Got any anti virus installed on the image?
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.

Does your lab version have AV? It may be firewall related as well. Once booted into windows, what does the event viewer say and does it allow you to then join to the domain? What options did you set during the sysprep? Have you tried another image and with multiple computers?

Remove A/V from the image and try again. (What A/V, Symantec? )
